Although Commencement has passed, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ continues to celebrate graduating students who have overcome obstacles, made significant achievements or are fulfilling Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ’s mission in or outside the classroom.

Today, we celebrate Tyler Roeper, who is a Pharmaceutical Sciences and major with a minor in and a pre-medicine concentration.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ: Have you had any significant internships/co-ops/careers while at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ?

TR: During my time at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, I have worked as both a State-Tested Nursing Assistant and an Emergency Medical Technician, gaining hands-on clinical experience in patient care. These roles have strengthened my ability to work under pressure, communicate effectively, and provide compassionate care while reinforcing my interest in pursuing a career in health care.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ: How would you describe the connections you have made with the faculty and staff at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ?

TR: The connections I’ve made with professors at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ have been incredibly impactful. The faculty have consistently supported and challenged me, creating an environment where I’ve been able to grow both academically and professionally. Dr. Vania De Paoli, from the Chemistry Department, has been especially influential, always advocating for me and encouraging me to push myself further while guiding me along my academic journey.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ: How has Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ inspired you for your future?

TR: Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ helped me realize how much I genuinely enjoy learning and challenging myself academically. Through my coursework and the support of professors in the Chemistry Department, I was pushed to work harder and go beyond what I thought I was capable of. That experience made me more motivated and confident in pursuing a future where I can continue learning and growing, especially in a field like health care.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ: How do you think you have fulfilled Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ’s mission?

TR: I believe I’ve fulfilled Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ’s mission by fully engaging in the opportunities here and remaining active both in my academics and within the campus community. I’ve worked hard in my coursework, taken on leadership as president of the American Medical Student Association, and tried to contribute in a positive way to the people around me. Overall, I’ve really focused on growing as a student while also giving back to the community Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ has given me.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ: Do you have a career lined up, and how has Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ been instrumental in that process?

TR: I plan to pursue a career as a pediatric oncologist and continue on to medical school after graduation. The coursework in Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ’s Chemistry and Biology departments has really prepared me for how rigorous that path will be, and it’s pushed me to develop strong study habits and critical-thinking skills. The support from faculty and the opportunities I’ve had has also helped me build the confidence I need to take that next step.
